| JUDICIAL CAREER: | |||
| Appointment: | |||
| Judge Silvernail was first elected to serve as a county court judge in 1992, however, Governor Lawton Chiles appointed Judge Silvernail to begin his term early. Governor Chiles later elevated Judge Silvernail to the circuit court bench in 1995. Since that time he has served unopposed. | |||
| Elected Chief Judge: | |||
| Judge Silvernail has twice been elected by his fellow judges to serve as Chief Judge. His first two-year term began July 1, 1999. He began his current term as Chief Judge in July 2009. As Chief Judge, he oversees all administrative functions of the court in Brevard and Seminole Counties. | |||

| PROFESSIONAL HISTORY: | |||
| Judge Silvernail was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1977. He was employed by the Harris Corporation until 1980, when he re-entered private practice. | |||

| Judge Silvernail is a lifelong resident of Brevard County. After graduating from Melbourne High School, Judge Silvernail attended the University of Florida where he earned both his B.A. and M.B.A. degrees. He earned his Juris Doctorate in 1977 from St. Mary's University School of Law in San Antonio, Texas. | |||

| MILITARY SERVICE: | |||
Judge Silvernail is a veteran of the U.S. Army. He served from 1967-1969 and attained the rank of Sergeant (E-5). |

| PERSONAL: | |||
Judge Silvernail and his wife Sarah (Betts) have been married since 1971 and have two children. |
